[ENGLISH BELOW] La Mandragora nome assegnato dal medico greco Ippocrate è una pianta appartenente alla famiglia delle Solanaceae , la conformazione della sua radice è caratterizzata da una forma che ricorda una figura umana.
Le due specie vernalis e autumnalis venivano distinte come Mandragora bianca (maschio) e nera (femmina).
Radice che cresce nella regione mediterranea, specie nell’Europa meridionale. Possiamo trovarla anche in diversi punti d'Italia.
La mandragora è da sempre considerata una pianta magica , per questo veniva utilizzata in diversi rituali e pozioni.
Presente in grimori medievali e in testi alchemici , per via della sua forma antropomorfa viene raffigurata con sembianze di uomo e di bambino , da quest'ultimo si pensa derivi la leggenda del pianto della mandragora quando veniva colta, in grado di poter uccidere o rendere pazzo chiunque non decida di proteggersi le orecchie e quindi ascolti le sue grida. Si credeva anche che nella mandragora viveva un demone e che si liberasse nel momento in cui veniva estratta dal terreno.
Presente in tantissime leggende e diverse credenze popolari , si pensa che utilizzando della radice di mandragora nella preparazione di uno speciale unguento , lo stesso dia la possibilità di trasformarsi in animale , altre credenze invece la ritengono utilizzata nelle prime forme di stregoneria medievale come surrogato delle bambole di cera.
Questa radice veniva e viene usata in magia per molti scopi , contro la negatività e il malocchio , usata anche per esorcismi poiché si crede che vicino alla pianta non possono annidarsi i malefici. Usata nei rituali per avere e togliere la fortuna e ricchezza , in talismani per proteggere la salute e aiutare il parto , ma anche per stimolare l'amore e il sesso.
In alcune leggende si parla anche che chi teneva la radice e quindi era riuscito a coglierla senza morire o impazzire poteva esprimere alcuni desideri subito dopo però doveva regalare la radice. Questa radice infatti nella stregoneria e nelle credenze popolari è da sempre considerata a metà tra il regno vegetale e quello animale.
Conosciuta fin dal II millennio a.c. per le sue virtù magiche, afrodisiache e medicinali e poiché utilizzata da sempre nei rituali e nella stregoneria è stata considerata nel Medioevo una pianta demoniaca e infernale.
Pianta dai mille utilizzi , medicinali , terapeutici ma anche esoterici e magici , nel corso dei secoli è sempre stata temuta per le sue potenti capacità magiche che continuano ad essere avvolte da leggende , mistero e magia.

The mandrake has always been considered a magical plant, which is why it was used in various rituals and potions.
Present in medieval grimoires and in alchemical texts, due to its anthropomorphic form it is depicted with the appearance of man and child, from the latter it is thought to derive the legend of the crying of the mandrake when it was cultured, able to kill or make mad anyone who does not decide to protect their ears and therefore hears his cries. It was also believed that a demon lived in the mandrake and that it freed itself when it was extracted from the ground.
Present in many legends and different popular beliefs, it is thought that by using mandragora root in the preparation of a special ointment, the same gives the possibility of becoming an animal, other beliefs instead consider it used in the first forms of medieval witchcraft as a surrogate of the dolls of wax.
This root was and is used in magic for many purposes, against negativity and the evil eye, also used for exorcisms since it is believed that evil spells cannot nest near the plant. Used in rituals to have and take away luck and wealth, in talismans to protect health and help birth, but also to stimulate love and sex.
In some legends there is also talk that those who held the root and therefore had managed to catch it without dying or going crazy could express some wishes immediately afterwards, however, had to give the root. In fact, this root in witchcraft and popular beliefs has always been considered halfway between the vegetable and animal kingdoms.
Known since the 2nd millennium BC. for its magical, aphrodisiac and medicinal virtues and since it has always been used in rituals and witchcraft it was considered in the Middle Ages a demonic and infernal plant.
Plant with a thousand uses, medicinal, therapeutic but also esoteric and magical, over the centuries it has always been feared for its powerful magical abilities that continue to be wrapped in legends, mystery and magic.
